Information: The GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam is one of the four Gundam mobile suits stolen from the Earth Alliance by ZAFT. Unlike the other Gundams captured by ZAFT, the Aegis seems to be built for balanced combat, easily excelling in every known category. It's most notable feature is it's ability to transform into a mobile armor form, which allows the Gundam to travel at faster speeds in the atmosphere and in space, as well as the usage of the 'Scylla' cannon. The Aegis' armaments comprise of a pair of head vulcans, like the other Gundams, two built-in beam sabers mounted in the suit's wrists, a fairly standard beam rifle and the most powerful weapon to be used on a mobile suit: the 580mm 'Scylla' cannon. The 'Scylla' can fire a wide blast to destroy several units at once, and it has enough force behind it to puncture any type of armor, even PS type. It's rumored that the cannon is powered directly from the suit's main batteries, which may explain why it can only be used in MA mode, and can possibly drain away at Aegis' power rather quickly. The Aegis Gundam is piloted by Aslan Zara, a powerful coordinator and former friend of Strike Gundam's Kira Yamato. At this point in time, the Aegis Gundam and it's pilot both act under the wing of ZAFT commander Rau Ra Cruize, rather than alongside the other three, a sign of how powerful and unique this mobile suit truly is.
